{"id":3130,"date":"2021-02-16T19:39:58","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T19:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zatma.org\/?p=3130"},"modified":"2021-02-16T20:36:02","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T20:36:02","slug":"3130","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zatma.org\/?p=3130","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have for some time, viewed many of the essays sent in and finally thought possibly I would send something\u00a0in that possibly may be of interest.\u00a0 I am new to the Order in 2020 and\u00a0 I am learning much from all of you\u00a0who express your Hearts &amp; Minds\u00a0 through your writings.<\/p>\n<p>Since I am new to this Order, I just realized I had better introduce myself.\u00a0 I am Arakawa Mitsugi, reborn once\u00a0again as \u201cL\u01ceo x\u012bn sh\u00e0n Shakya\u201d\u00a0 (otherwise known as \u201c\u00a0<strong><em>Old Heart Mountain<\/em><\/strong>\u201d ) \u00a0which I find most respectfully\u00a0expressed in this Buddhist Order of Monastics.<\/p>\n<p>Today, is the 15th of February 2021.\u00a0 In two days, I begin my\u00a0<strong>63rd year\u00a0<\/strong>in the Path of Martial Arts &amp; Sciences,\u00a0which I entered many years ago. \u00a0I have only been a Monk approximately 27 years.<\/p>\n<p>Many of you within\u00a0<strong><em>Hsu Yun Ch\u2019an Yuen\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Martial Arts\u00a0<strong><em>Dojo\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>division may have vast knowledge in\u00a0the Ancient Ways at which I follow for many years. Most modern-day Ryu of Budo, whether Japanese or Chinese Lay Disciplines have omitted many Spiritual<\/p>\n<p>Practices of the various Zen &amp; Yoga Sadhana Meditation Practices vital to actually encompasses the very\u00a0foundation of Budo set by the Century \u2019s old\u00a0Ancient Master\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>(\u00a0<em>You will have to forgive my using the term \u201c Master\u201d as, for one, I do not believe in anyone being a Master; only\u00a0those who are continuous \u2018 Students of the Path\u2019\u00a0 and I mean no disrespect towards anyone who are looked upon\u00a0as Master or Expert\u00a0<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0have studied, searched for and upon finding, researched all I have studied over the years.\u00a0 I am a Practitioner\u00a0of\u00a0Buddhist Chinese Ch\u2019uan Fa ( referred to as Kuntau ), Japanese Aikido\u00a0 and\u00a0 Tibetan Lama Pai Haaga; each of Ancient Buddhist Origin Transmission, with the exception of Japanese Aikido ( although Spiritual ).\u00a0 I have\u00a0additionally studied under Hindu Priest, as well as Yogi &amp; Swami-Ji.<\/p>\n<p>So in this, I believe I am well versed in many areas of Ancient Classical Traditions- however, again, I am NO\u00a0Master of these Traditions and my overall knowledge rests only within these Transmissions.<\/p>\n<p>The one area I am most fond of, have studied under the delightful Asian Teachers, were the stories that were\u00a0awarded as they were just as much a part of our Spiritual development as were my \u201cCombative Waza\u201d Teachings.<\/p>\n<p>Here is one of them.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cThe Master &amp; His Young Disciple\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>The Master Hoshi ( Monk ) asked his young\u00a0Disciple student,\u00a0 to run out and pick herbs for\u00a0the\u00a0afternoon&#8217;s meals. The young Monk was a \u201cYokasei,\u201d ( a Novice ) that wanted\u00a0to impress his Master. \u00a0He immediately left out of the Temple\u00a0and\u00a0went into the forest,\u00a0and after some time,\u00a0arrived at the\u00a0Tang-Ji Mountain paths where herbs were\u00a0plentiful.<\/p>\n<p>As he began picking herbs and placing them in\u00a0his cloth sack, he\u00a0began to travel further up the<\/p>\n<p>path where he\u00a0sometimes would swim and bathein a shallow part of the mountain creek.<\/p>\n<p>The young Monk did not\u00a0realize that the Master had decided to follow him as he knew all too well the Young Monk, who was around the age of 8, was rather mischievous at times.<\/p>\n<p>As the young Monk traveled the path further into the mountain-side, he came across the mountain creek and there, he saw a lone fish in the water at which he decided to catch.<\/p>\n<p>When he caught the small fish, he then, tied a string around the fish and on the other end, tied a small\u00a0stone.<\/p>\n<p>Releasing the fish back into the creek, he began to\u00a0laugh as he saw how\u00a0difficult it was for the fish to\u00a0swim.<\/p>\n<p>After laughing at the struggling fish for several minutes he began to follow the path once again at which he saw a frog and immediately chased it catching it and again,\u00a0wrapped a string around the frog\u2019s body and tied another\u00a0stone on the other end.<\/p>\n<p>Releasing the frog, the young Monk began to laugh loudly as the frog began to struggle as he began leaping forward. After several minutes, the young Monk began to walk the path descending the mountain path and found a snake on the path.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately the\u00a0young Monk ran after it and catching it,\u00a0began\u00a0tying a string around its body with a stone at the\u00a0other end of\u00a0the string. \u00a0Of course, the snake had difficulty\u00a0in wiggling away.<\/p>\n<p>The Master had witnessed each\u00a0of the three occurrences\u00a0but\u00a0said nothing each time.<\/p>\n<p>That night, as the young Monk slept, the Master Hoshi, turned the young Monk over and tied a large stone to the\u00a0Young Monk\u2019s back.<\/p>\n<p>Early the next morning at breakfast, the young Monk\u00a0began to\u00a0complain to the Master Hoshi that he was having\u00a0difficulty\u00a0walking around and even rising up as he fell on\u00a0occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The Master, then looking the young Monk in his eyes said . . .<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I had seen what you had done to the Fish, the Frog and the Snake, and as you thought it amusing in laughing as to each of their struggles; you\u2019ve committed grave acts of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 17px;\">cruelty to those\u00a0who are defenseless.\u00a0 Go to the mountain\u00a0again and FREE\u00a0each of them &#8211; THEN,\u00a0I will free you.\u00a0If you do not,\u00a0you will suffer in your Heart\u00a0and Mind for\u00a0this suffering will become your Karma!&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The young Monk traveled up the Tang-Ji Mountain again only to find that each ;\u00a0 the Fish,\u00a0 the Frog, and the Snake,\u00a0had\u00a0each died.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Young Monk began to weep in each case knowing he\u00a0had\u00a0caused suffering and returning to the Temple, he Shame-\u00a0fully wept\u00a0as he advised the Master Hoshi, what had\u00a0happened .<\/p>\n<p>As the\u00a0young Monk wept in sorrow, the Master summoned the\u00a0young Monk to sit on his lap where the Master Hoshi\u00a0released\u00a0him from his bondage and said . . .<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8221; I see you are sorry in your heart for what you have done and I did to you, what you had done to them, the least of us.
