Wean Yourself from Wanting Things to Go Your Way.
We depend on and are addicted to wanting things to go our way. When it doesn’t go our way, we get upset like a hungry infant wanting to be fed. All sorts of feelings and hurts arise in the mind and body and we insist on satisfying our desires. Some of our actions are to stomp out, scream, yell and condemn. Others pout, judge and enter a burning anger of silence and withdrawal. So many types of reactions are relied on as a method of getting the fulfilment of wanting things to go our way.
It is painful. And painful desire is followed by painful action. We tell ourselves stories that help stave off the painful wanting for things to go our way. It is a story of recognition. We recognize that our selfish ego manages the mind and body forgetting the sovereignity of self-realization.
The sovereignity, however, of all of what we want is uninvolved in our day to day wanting. This sovereignity remains in the background as long as the hired, trained and conditioned manager of our life is in charge. This manager is the selfish-ego who thinks, acts and wants to get, have and keep the things of the world. Unfortunately, the things of the world do not quench this thirst for satisfaction.
The realization of our true sovereign nature provides an awareness that can remove the suffering of wanting things to go our way.
When we realize our true sovereign nature we are dispassionate about the things of the world and accept all things without greed, without hate and without delusion.
Our Choices
Before self-realization we must turn away from wanting things to go our way. Otherwise we remain being a pawn used by the poisons of wanting, hating and deluding.
The other choice is to turn toward the light of sovereignity beyond the ego-selfishness of the objects of the world.
