Build Your Retreat 2025

 

  • The 90-day retreat consists of morning sitting M-F at 6:30 CT on Zoom.
  • Dharma talks will begin on the first three Sundays: January 5th, 12th & 19TH
  • We are encouraged to put together our own daily schedule of meditation & study.
  • Practice is our responsibility. Suggestions are offered.

We begin with some basics which provide a foundation for our practice.

  1. We must take up the reality that our body, along with every other thing, is impermanent.
  2. We need to practice dispassion for the things of the world. It requires that we do not get attached to the fleeting world of objects.
  3. We do our best to attain calm-abiding about the world of things & others.
  4. We must be diligent and study our mental formations and our senses. We must be willing to STOP & EMPTY the attachments in the mind as well as the delights and pains of the senses.
  5. We must be willing to strengthen our spiritual fortitude through concentration and meditation.
  6. We must cultivate patience & strengths to withstand changes that come into our lives.
  7. We must study the teachings which give us enough confidence that we trust & follow them.
  8. We practice putting our attention and concentration on love, respect & trust in things beyond the material realm.
  9. We make every effort to find the conviction that the world is suffering which leads us to longing for awakening.

Sufferings

Getting what we want & not being satisfied. Not getting what we want & not being satisfied. Being with those we do not love, and not satisfied. Being with those we love but are not satisfied.
